Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Unbeaten Showdown: Can Palace Stop Liverpool’s Perfect Run?

It’s top vs fifth as unbeaten Liverpool face unbeaten Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Can Klopp’s Reds make it six wins in a row, or will Palace shock the leaders?

Liverpool sit top of the Premier League with a perfect record, but today they travel to Selhurst Park to face the only other unbeaten side left this season — Crystal Palace. The Eagles are flying high under Oliver Glasner and haven’t lost in their first five games, their best start to a campaign since 1990-91.

For Liverpool, it’s about making a statement. Only Chelsea (2005-06) and Man City (2023-24) have ever started with six straight wins and gone on to win the league. Arne Slot’s men keep pace with history, or will Palace prove they’re not just a good start but genuine challengers?

This isn’t just top vs fifth — it’s unbeaten vs unbeaten, and Selhurst Park is about to be bouncing.

Things to Watch Out For

  • Palace’s struggles vs Liverpool: The Eagles have only won one of their last 18 league meetings with the Reds, losing 13. Selhurst has been a happy hunting ground for Arne Slot’s men.
  • Liverpool’s unbeaten streak: Nine wins and one draw in their last 10 against Palace — their longest ongoing unbeaten run away to any side in the league.
  • Unbeaten clash: This is the Premier League’s only game this season between two sides yet to taste defeat. Four of the last five times this has happened late into a campaign, it’s ended in a draw.
  • Palace’s flying start: First time they’ve started a top-flight season unbeaten in five since 1990-91, when they finished third. Can they dream of Europe again?
  • Liverpool chasing history: A win here would make it six straight to start the season. Only two reigning champions have ever done it — Chelsea 05/06 and City last season.

Predicted Lineups

Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1):
Henderson; Andersen, Guehi, Richards; Ward, Lerma, Doucoure, Mitchell; Eze, Olise; Mateta.

Liverpool (4-3-3):
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Quansah, Robertson; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Salah, Núñez, Diaz.

Prediction

Palace look solid, but Liverpool’s momentum and history in this fixture can’t be ignored. Expect a feisty battle, Selhurst Park to make it difficult, but the Reds to edge it.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool
